Therapy for the people who take care of everyone else.
You spend your shifts holding other people together. Renew Counseling offers CBT-based telehealth therapy built around the realities of healthcare work: compassion fatigue, burnout, and the weight of caring for others.
The weight healthcare work leaves behind
None of this means something is wrong with you. It means you've been giving from a well that needs refilling too.
Compassion fatigue
Caring for others all day can leave little left over for yourself, or the people who need you at home.
Burnout & exhaustion
Chronic understaffing, long shifts, and constant demand can leave you running on empty.
Moral distress
Making impossible calls inside imperfect systems can weigh on you long after the shift ends.
Difficulty switching off
Bringing the unit, the ER, or the clinic home with you, even when you're trying to rest.
Secondary trauma
Witnessing others' pain and crises repeatedly can leave its own mark, even when it's not your own.
Depersonalization
Feeling detached from patients, coworkers, or yourself, often a protective response to sustained stress.
Support built around your schedule, and your reality
Sessions are grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a structured, practical approach for the specific patterns that come with healthcare work: chronic stress, compassion fatigue, and burnout. This isn't your employer's EAP or a peer-support group. It's a private, confidential space that belongs only to you.
- CBT-based, practical strategies you can actually use between shifts
- Telehealth-only, so sessions can work around rotating or unpredictable shifts
- A confidential space, separate from your workplace entirely
- Support for both the emotional toll and the practical patterns burnout leaves behind
Questions healthcare workers ask most
Can sessions work around rotating or night shifts?
Yes. Being telehealth-only means we can find times that actually fit your schedule, rather than asking you to work around a waiting room.
Is this confidential from my employer?
Yes. This is completely separate from any employee assistance program, peer support team, or workplace resource. What you share here stays between us, with the standard legal exceptions covered in your first session.
Do I need a specific diagnosis to start?
No. Many healthcare workers come in dealing with stress, exhaustion, or a general sense of running on empty, not a formal diagnosis. That's a completely valid reason to reach out.
What does payment look like?
Renew Counseling is private-pay, with sessions at $150 for 50 minutes. A superbill can be provided on request if you'd like to seek out-of-network reimbursement from your insurer. Full details are on the Rates page.
